Fan Art - Coti

This piece is both direct and upfront about what its display. As soon as the image is placed before a viewer the eye is immediately drawn to the border, where the contrast of thick black lines and empty white spaces form the design of vampiric skulls being held together by and endless thorned vine. After taking in this display and style of art the eye moves to the centre of the piece where the art takes on a very different form. The lines become thinner and sharper, and what was white turns into many shades of grey. This immediately lets the viewer know that the content of the centre piece is the real purpose of the artwork. The eye then forms letters from the lines and reads what has been presented before them, 'COTI'. The image now fits together as the two separate pieces become one. The outside edges are no longer a design, but a description of what COTI is. COTI is no longer just letters, but a sound that looks exactly like its surroundings. The eye now cannot be draw from the bold and direct statement that is before it. COTI exists where life is void, and there is nothing to stop it from reaching out and entering our lives.
